Thank.God.It’s.Friday!!! Do you love Fridays? I do! I’ve loved Fridays since I started going to school! Haha! It brings with it the promise of a wonderful weekend. Just how wonderful is all up to us. ;)

Here are the fantastic things I am especially appreciative of and very much thankful for today:

1) Plan B – When you make plans, do you make it a point to have a Plan B? Hubby and I want to watch the very last Harry Potter movie EVER. Unfortunately, our Munchkin Girl doesn’t want to, because the first installment of Deathly Hollows gave her nightmares. We came up with Plan A, which was to watch the movie with our friends. Plan A went pfft! But Plan B – ha! – Plan B worked like a charm, leaving 7 people (that’s 3 Harry Potter movie naysayers and their parents) very happy. Plan B = compromise = a good dose of happiness for everyone.

2) BOGO – A cousin of mine had a work colleague who thought BOGO was a brand. Hee hee. BOGO is short for buy one , get one.  My favorite kind of BOGO is Buy 1 Get 1 FREE, a close second is Buy 1 Get 1 half off. :D This morning, Hubby and I enjoyed a McCafe frappe each for the price of one. Buy 1 Get 1 Free! My kind of BOGO, I tell yah!

3) Being Ahead of the Game – Store displays now scream back-to-school.  Seriously, I don’t understand the rush. :P I’m not quite ready to think about school just yet. Haha! Anyway, I checked my stash of school supplies and realized that we already have on hand, close to half of the items in my daughter’s school supplies list. Woot!  I bought them last year at the time when school supplies were already on clearance. Proud moment for me. Wais na misis…that’s how we say it. ;)

4) A friend’s Update – I was laughing out loud in the car this afternoon, on our way to the pool, when I read the thread for my friend’s (Hi AbbyG!) uploaded photo on   That thread was hilarious! It felt good to just suddenly burst out laughing. :)

5) Exclusive Pool – My daughter had a playdate at the pool with two friends. When the sun finally started to set, everybody left, that is, except for us. And for a good 30 minutes or so, my daughter and her friends had the pool all to themselves. ;)

6. Look, Ma! No glare! – I love the fact that I am able to read in broad daylight, even when the sun’s shining summer-y bright behind me. No Glare = No Eye Strain = Happy Reader

I’m currently reading The Girl Who Played with Fire, the second book in  Stieg Larsson’s trilogy (the first was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). I hope to finish the book soon so I can move on to the third book in the series and then watch the movie adaptations on Netflix. Never  mind if they’re in Swedish. :D That’s what subtitles are for!

Have a lovely weekend, y’all! Be on the lookout for blessings and remember to count them. Cheers and mabuhay!

As I go through the day and something makes me smile or laugh or just feel good, I make a mental note of it for possible inclusion in my list of daily blessings. I’ve got a few good ones today and ordinarily, these are things that would be taken for granted. Here’s my list of treasures for today, in no particular order…

1. Toll Road 183-A – This road takes me to my favorite Target location in 5 minutes flat! And yes, I was at Target again today. The man of the house ever so sweetly sent me there to buy filter for the fridge, which was unavailable in the Target location I visited yesterday. I’d take any excuse – maybe even make up one! – to go to Target! I can go there every single day. Hee hee. :D

2. Parking spot under the shade of a tree – This is how twisted we are. We don’t have those sun shades for the car.  So what we find ourselves doing is parking under a tree, extreme possibility of bird droppings notwithstanding. Haha! The parking spot was a little far away from the entrance of Target, giving me a chance to use my legs and burn an almost negligible amount of calories. Well, every step counts! Come to think of it, shade or no shade, I like parking far away from a building’s entrance. Seriously!

3. My trusty Ikea wok. – I’ve been cooking a lot these past few days. For the second consecutive day, I cooked with my wok, which brings us to #4.

4. Sweet and Spicy Shrimp – Simple yet yummy dish, which won me even more ganda (beauty) points from hubby and daughter. ;) I hope to post the recipe on my food blog as soon as I’m through with this entry. *cross fingers*

5. Mario Batali’s Molto Italiano cookbook  – I’ve had this cookbook for a very long time. But I don’t recall ever “consulting” it, that is, until today. I made (thin) spaghetti carbonara for dinner. Dinner was a hit with hubby and daughter. They were very well fed today. More ganda points for me! Hee hee.

6. More tennis videos of my very own little top-seed! – During tennis lessons this morning, the head coach at tennis camp invited me to come closer to the court so I can take a video of my girl at a better vantage point as she sampled the forehand to her fellow tennis campers. That was a very welcome surprise, because for the last three days, I just take my videos from outside the fence! :D

The day’s over. I’m ready to receive Friday’s treasures. :)

Cheers and mabuhay, y’all!  Blessings all around!

Wednesday was a winner in so many ways. Today, I am most thankful for the following…

1. Target. Oh, that needs no explanation! Hee hee. I love Target. I’ve loved this store since the first time I set foot in it as an 11-year old tourist from the Philippines. Anyway, I was at Target today. I was able to snag two pairs of footwear for my Munchkin Girl at 75% off the original price…

I know they’re identical pairs. But I just couldn’t find it in me to leave one pair behind. Kawawa naman, diba? :P As for the rest of the stuff I bought at Target, I paid close to nothing for them. Weeheehee! Thank you, Target coupons!  My daughter couldn’t be happier with her loot. She loves footwear that sparkles and lights up!

2. My daughter is my Mini Me, but I am sure glad she didn’t get my feet. She got her dad’s! *sigh of relief* If she got my feet, then those sexy sandals would be out of the question. :P

3. Fishballs!

I made fishballs for lunch.  We were all happy about that! I was also able to experiment with the dipping sauce and came up with one that was close to how the sweet and spicy dipping sauce of street vendors taste.

4. Family tennis time. My daughter is loving tennis so much that she wanted to play again earlier this evening.  So we did. A friend of ours, who is an awesome tennis player, came and played with us as well. Thank you, A! :)

That’s about it for today!  Cheers and mabuhay!

PS:  Coming up with a list of things I’m thankful for everyday has made me even more keenly aware of every little thing I should count as a blessing. Yay me! Go ahead and give it a try! :)

These are my highs for today…

1. We managed to only be 5 minutes late for tennis camp. Whew!  The drive to the camp location takes between 20 and 30 minutes.  The route provides  us with quite a scenic view, which just takes my our breath away every time. Whenever the scenic part of the drive begins, we all wish and daydream a little…it would be nice – really nice! –  to live in that area. *wishful sigh* Dear God, I know you can hear me! Will you let us? Please? :)

2.  My Munchkin Girl is actually enjoying her tennis camp!  After she has her turn hitting the balls, she skips to take her place at the back of the line.  She even smiles a lot!  That’s a relief for hubby and me. Tennis camps can be pricey, I have to admit. But to see my daughter having fun while learning the sport and actually want to come back again the next day, that is just priceless.

3. Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas and Pitbull helped me break a sweat. It was fun! I’ve missed hanging out with them.  Tomorrow, we shall get together again! *wink*

4. I’m still getting birthday greetings! Hee hee.  Keep ’em coming! It’s my birth month after all.  It will be weird to receive birthday greetings in August. :P

Cheers y’all! Mabuhay!

Everyday, just before I go to bed, I hope to type-up at least 3 things (more is better!) I am thankful for about the day – things that I particularly liked, things that made me smile…you get the picture. :) And because it will be challenging to come up with creative entry titles everyday, I shall give each day a generic title of sorts. Today, I start off with Marvelous Monday.

Let me get  countin’…

1. My Munchkin Girl started a week-long tennis camp this morning with the 10andUnder Quick Start Tennis Program. I am thankful that we are able to sign her up for such a wonderful program, short as it is. She had fun! She was confident on the court and hitting balls over the net. It looks like hubby and I won’t have to dangle a reward in front of her nose to make her attend lessons like we had to for swim class. Hurrah! :D

2. I went out some time in the afternoon to buy a few things…specific things.  Finding them all in stock at  very good prices made me a happy camper.  Shopping = happiness.  Shopping without paying high dollar = double happiness. It was, without a doubt, a double happiness kind of day! *wink*

3. I controlled my appetite. Woot! If things go according to plan (and they will!) I will be less “cheeky” in a couple of weeks. Enough said. Hee hee. :P

4. It’s 7-11’s birthday today, today being 7/11. ;) We all got a free slurpee! I loved my Pina Colada! Thank you, 7-11.

5.  We had cheese pizza for dinner for the price of a “like” on Facebook. Free!  Thank you, Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen! *thumbs up*

6. Last but not the least, I’m still getting birthday greetings on Facebook and birthday freebies in my inbox. Wheeeee! ;)

What were your highs for today or what are your highs so far?

Cheers and mabuhay, y’all! Blessings! Blessings!
