Thankful Log 03.26.12 – 16

on March 26, 2012 in Munchkin Daddy

Happy New Year! Hee hee. I did a double take when I realized that my last entry was dated 09.20.11. That’s more than half a year ago! *blushes* I did find a draft dated 10.06.11. It was empty. I only got so far as to type the title. Maybe I have a shorter attention span than I care to admit.

For my yet another back from the boondocks entry, a fresh blessing is in order, as in just-yesterday fresh. So you don’t have to worry about me cramming six months worth of gratitude in this one post.

Yesterday, my best (as opposed to better) half ran in the Statesman Capitol 10K. And for the first time ever since hubby and I started running races in 2010, I was able to take photos of him as he was approaching the finish line. For the first time, I was the crazed fan wifey cheering wildly on the sidelines. For the first time, I was able to do for hubby, what he has done for me in the last 6 races we’ve run, and that is to wait in eager anticipation at the finish line. It was a proud wifey moment. Hubby registered a new personal best with an improved time of over five minutes slashed from his old 10K time.

Being the painfully slower runner between the two of us, in all the races we’ve been in together, I cross the finish line when hubby has long cooled off and his heart rate back to normal. That’s just how it is. And I am more than ok with it. *wink*

I just love the electrifying energy that envelopes races. More than cheering for hubby and our friend who also ran the race, yesterday was a day for giving back. In all my past races, I’ve been the recipient of encouraging cheers from people I don’t even know. I myself am aware of how those cheers seem to have a magical effect that they almost carry runners across the finish line. So yesterday, I yelled and cheered like a mad woman. I felt great!

Have a great week ahead, y’all! Go give someone (who needs it) an encouraging word or cheer of support. They’ll love you for it. ;)
