Last Thursday, Mother Nature had a surprise for North Austin: hail which varied from pingpong to tennis ball sizes (in the worst hit areas) that lasted for more or less 10 minutes and huge funnel clouds, which, thankfully, didn’t touch the surface of the earth to become a tornado.
Here’s a photo of our neighbor’s outdoor sofa. It’s blurry because I took the photo with the blinds drawn. Hee hee. Stalkerish, I know!

Here’s a big piece of glass from Hubby’s 2nd floor office window.

So where’s the lid that’s supposed to cover this hole?

Here it is, several feet away!

I always say that I fell in love with Texas, Austin in particular, at first sight. I doubted that love during the 10 minutes when we were invaded by balls of ice.
We thank God for keeping us safe in such terrible weather condition…again. Prayer works wonders!
Have a wonderful week ahead, y’all! It’s going to be really great!

my goodness! it’s a relief to know you’re all safe. must’ve been a scary experience!
fortunately for us when there was a hailstorm in Dubai (around March), nakauwi na kami sa bahay so we didn’t freak out naman sa car, unlike the other commuters who had their windshields & mirrors damaged.
prayer really works! and i’m glad you were spared from much worse damage.

Hi Gracie! Hay naku, it was scary and unexpected! Parang we were just waiting for the windows to give. If you put your hand against the door (which is solid wood), you can feel the hail pag tumama. Buti talaga we had the sense to go straight home after Abby’s tennis lessons. Kung hindi, kawawa ang kotse namin. Thannk, God talaga!
Grabe, Weng… as big as tennis balls?! Buti na lang at hindi bowling balls – yikes!
I’m glad that only the window was damaged. It could have been much worse. Imagine if you were outdoors during that time!
By the way, siguro ang daming dimples ng mga kotse diyan ngayon no?

Hi Keith! In other areas, medyo mas malaki pa yata sa tennis balls ang tumama sa kanila. And you’re right, maraming cars ang may dimples! Namroblema na naman siguro ang mga car dealerships. Nag “hail sale” na nga sila after the hail in February eh. Hirap yata magbenta ng kotse na may dimples all over.
ask mo si chloe, biktima ng giant hailstones ang kotse niya a few months ago.
the global climate is really out of whack no? who would have thought na summer na summer may hail?
i’m glad you’re ok, though. next time, magdala ng bakal na payong hehehe!

Hi Mee! I did hear about Chloe’s hailstone encounter!
Nawindang ang Austin and other Texas cities because of that unexpected barrage of hailstones. Tsk. If and when we buy a house, it has to have a room that can double as a shelter.
wow, hail storm during summer!
buti na lang you’re all safe. ingat pa rin lagi just the same.
Hi Tin! Weird ‘no? Salamat sa paalala na mag-ingat. *mwah*
Nakakapangkilabot ito. Salamat at ligtas naman kayong lahat.
