09 Jan 2009 A Touch of Holland
 |  Category: In Between Chores

“Flowers for you, on this lovely evening
Though they have no words
They share my feelings
As we walk along the avenue
Pardon me, I just can’t help staring at you…”

Pardon the singing.  I just can’t help breaking into this particular song whenever I see flowers.  By the way, can you guess the title and singer of this song?  It’s always been a personal favorite…a song I always make my brother sing.  I did mention before that he has a beautiful voice, didn’t I? ;)

I am in a very good mood today and who wouldn’t be when we have these  inside our home…

Not the bottles of wine, silly.  The tulips!  Just two days ago, January 7th, they looked like this…

… looking seemingly shy and quiet.  And now, they seem to be calling attention to themselves!

We got these at Costo on December 30th, when we were shopping for things we’ll need for  New Year’s Eve.  And I have to say, the 12 or so dollars we spent for the 4 vases of tulips and the wait for these beauties to bloom were well worth it!  It now feels like Spring in our dining “nook”. :)   It’s amazing what a touch of Holland can do to lift one’s spirits and to brighten up a room!  I’ve always associated tulips with Holland. Only one vase’s tulips has yet to bloom.  I’m excited to find out what color they’re going to be.

As you may very well know by now, it doesn’t take a lot to get me excited.  You can just imagine what a set of diamond blings will do to me!   Hahaha!  I’d be out of my mind, that much I can tell you.  I won’t let something exciting go by without taking pictures.  So I took about 60, maybe 70, pictures, all of which I’m going to share with you right now.  Kidding.  I’ll only show you my favorites.  Here they are:

White Tulips

Two days ago…

Today…

Three-Toned Tulips (Pink, Yellow and White)

Two days ago…

Today…

Red Tulips

Two days ago…

Today…

The fourth group of tulips will probably bloom in a day or two.  For now, it looks like this…

I say they’re a perfect ending to the tortuous first week back to reality after the holidays.  I hope these tulips brightened your day as they did mine.  :)

Have a wonderful weekend, y’all!

Found you via bloghopping :) You have a really comfy blog here ^_^ Oh and I love the tulips. I wasn’t originally a fan, because I thought the red ones were just generic and boring. But then I saw the butterfly tulips and the range of colours they come in. They really are beautiful :)

Hi Sinta! I’m glad you found my online nook comfy. That’s how I intended it to be. :) Aren’t tulips pretty? White roses used to be my favorite. Now, I can’t say I have a favorite. I don’t want to be unfair to other flower varieties. Hee hee. Thanks for dropping by!

Hi Jo! I’ve had the Tulips for three weeks now. I’m so glad I bought them! And I’m enjoying them while I still can. It looks like I’ll be buying flowers again soon. :)

I love tulips, too! I almost fainted when my mom and I were at Keukenhof last April. There were tulips of all colours as far as the eye could see :D

I’ve yet to write a blog post about it though :P

Hi Mimi! Awww, I’m jealous! I’ve been dreaming of visiting a garden filled with blooming tulips. I just might faint, too! Hee hee. We’ve visited several Texas gardens but we always go at the wrong time. We have to make sure we go this Spring. Good luck to me! :)

Hi Toni! Every morning, my first stop when I come down from the bedroom is the kitchen to prepare Abby’s school lunch. I love having these tulips greet me! Too bad they can’t last forever. Huhu. :D

Hi Junnie! Oooh, I remember these pics of yours of the tulips taken at a very unusual angle. I tried to do the same but the pics come out dark. :( And I was afraid our neighbor might think na binobosohan ko siya. Hee hee. :D

Hi Keith! I bought these flowers on December 30th. Unfortunately, once they wilt, I don’t think they’ll be blooming again. The three-toned ones wilted already. I’m still enjoying the 3 vases I have left. But I don’t think I’ll be enjoying them for long. I hope to be able to buy new bulbs again. :)
