Midnight Sun No More?
Two sites I frequented after I finished reading the first three books of the Twilight Saga are StephenieMeyer.com and the TwilightLexiconBlog.com. Hanging out in these sites helped pacify my already palpitating-and-hyperventilating-anxious-for-the-Breaking-Dawn-release heart. After I had my Breaking Dawn fill, I no longer visited these sites as often as I used to. The conscious effort was gone. I’d drop by once a week, if I remembered at all! A few minutes ago, I remembered. And Stephenie Meyer’s latest update left me in utter disbelief.
Midnight Sun, which is Twilight in the perspective of (MY) Edward Cullen, the painstakingly beautiful vampire in love with the ordinary human, Bella, has been indefinitely shelved. Twilighters everywhere, myself included, were hoping that the book will be published next year. Apparently, a rough draft (260+ pages long) was leaked and illegally distributed on the internet. Tsk tsk. SM, understandably so, is crushed and can’t find it in herself to finish writing the book anytime soon, if at all. We’ll all feel the same if our rights as an author were violated. You can read her statement here (August 28, 2008 – Part II).
It’s sad that the culprit is somebody the author knows. It’s doubly sad that he/she spoiled what could have been another wonderful reading experience for everyone else. And as if to crush whatever hope Twilighters might still have about Midnight Sun being published, SM posted the rought draft in question on her website. :( *sigh* Sad talaga.
Well, it’s a weekend and I can’t possibly end my entry on a sour note. Looking at the brighter side, the Twilight Movie‘s release date has been moved up from December 12th to November 21st. Weeee! Oh my, that’s Black Friday! Hahaha! Hubby will be happy that something will keep me away from the Thanksgiving Weekend sale events, at least for 1.5-2 hours in one of the 3 days. :P
It’s going to be a long, wonderful weekend for us, September 1st, being Labor Day. I wish y’all a wonderful weekend, too! Cheers!
PS: I’ve been horribly delinquent in my bloghopping and in replying to comments. It’s been a wildly crazy month, what with Abby’s birthday, Plurk, and all. Sorry! I’ll make it up to y’all really soon! Promise!

I fully support stephanie meyer. I am a huge fan of her’s and have read alll of her books including The Host at least 10 times. If she feels that her heart is no longer in it then she should not continue it. It a shame that someone would do such a thing and ruin the book like that. I am not sure if I will read what is written so far of midnight sun since it is not complete. After reading Breaking Dawn I felt closer and reading half a book won’t be as good. I will continue to support Stephanie. If you are a true fan of her’s you will to and as much as her decision stinks you should understand where she is coming from.

part of me does not want to read midnight sun (my ultra-high EQ, perhaps? hehe!) but i still wish SM would finish midnight sun and then next time (forever dawn?) she’ll learn from this and be more careful of her work. she’s a star now, of course some enterprising people will want to have any piece of her.
ps. ako rin delinquent sa bloghopping at commenting. eto nga, hinihingal ako sa paghabol ng entries mo, hehehe!

I’d still read Midnight Sun if it came out! It’s unfortunate the leak happened. Sayang naman though if she doesn’t carry on. There are a gazillion Edward fans anticipating this!

I really like the Twilight series, but I can’t help but wonder why Edward has such an effect among the ladies.
