Memorial Day Weekend…Finally!

Mabuhay! :)  How was your weekend?  I hope you had a really good one as did we.  Let me tell you about our Memorial Day weekend, which was two weeks ago.  It’s only two weeks overdue.  What an improvement on my part! :P

Normally, we plan on doing something special during long weekends, like driving off to or spending the night somewhere.  But for this year’s Memorial Day Weekend, we decided it would be more practical if we spent our money “wisely”, say on a belated Mother’s Day present for me.  Nyahahaha! :P  So around lunch time on Saturday, 24 May,  we drove off to Wal-Mart for my new toy.  See, I’m really very easy to please.  A Wal-Mart buy is enough to make me happy! ;P  This is what we bought…

…a Wii Fit!  Wiiii!  It was only launched in the US on May 21 and when we went on-line to check out availability in stores, a lot of them no longer have it on stock.  Good thing Wal-Mart still had a few!  I guess I was really meant to have one. ;)  After we paid for the Wii Fit, 2 or 3 other people in line at the check-out counter after us also had a Wii Fit in their hand.    Nintendo is really hitting it big with their newest baby.  Read all about what Wii Fit is HERE

The Wii Fit isn’t for hardcore fitness enthusiasts though but the games can be very challenging, specially when one gets to the advance level of step, hula hoop and tae-bo.  ;)  I finally found a game/s where I can easily beat hubby hands down. ;)  The thing with the Wii Fit games is that initially, there are only a limited number of games one can play.  You unlock other games by earning credits from playing the already available games.  Right now, I’ve unlocked way more balance games,  aerobics and strength training exercies and yoga poses than hubby.  :D  I use the Wii Fit as a supplement to my workout videos. Yes, I’ve been working out again. ;)

Just after we had the Wii Fit set-up, we got a call from my friend, Bet, inviting us to come over to their house pronto so Abby can join her sons and nieces for a backyard pool party.  Bet was having barbecue, too!  So off we went.

It took a few minutes for Abby to “warm up” and go crazy in the pool.

Abby had a fantastic time  as always.  I think the kids played in the pool for a good 3 hours!  I took a lot of pics of the kids and Abby, specially.  And since I can’t pick which one to post, here’s a slideshow of Abby’s pics.  Yeah, yeah, so I’m a stagemom! Bleh! :P

An afternoon of swimming always leaves kids, or anybody for that matter, famished. For their snack, the kids had hot dog sandwiches and some chips. Of course, we moms and dads dug into the bowl of chips as well! ;)

Assorted chips.  We had a dip, too!

It took a lot of will power for me not to eat the hotdogs.  No beef for me, remember? ;)

It’s safe to say that Memorial Day Weekend marks the start if barbecue season. A number of people asked us if we’re going to have a barbecue. We also saw our neighbors loading a barbecue grill into their Expedition.  Even we found ourselves at a barbecue!  Thanks to Bet and her husband, Tony. :)

Juicy, beefy goodness!

Here’s hubby looking every bit like an expert flipping those huge chunks of beef.

Grill master?

We might have another barbecue session at Bet’s house on Father’s Day.  I already volunteered to bring the seafood for grilling and something else for dessert.

That’s about it for our Memorial Day Weekend.  We spent most of Sunday and Monday getting fit.  Anybody up for a hula hoop challenge?  I can do upto ten minutes…5 minutes swaying to the right and 5 minutes swaying to the left. ;)

Have a great week ahead!
