Stuffed Turkey II

I know this is so old news as it is now December.  But do indulge me and let me continue where I left off…

(Black) Friday, 23 November

If I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten myself a good night’s sleep after Thanksgiving dinner and done my rounds of the different sale events at the crack of dawn. Midnight madness was a letdown.  While traffic and parking weren’t bad, my golly, the lines were just insane!  There were several stores at the outlet mall that we just skipped all together and some of the others, we were in and out in a matter of seconds.  The check-out lines were just impossibly long!  I can’t even begin to describe how long the lines were.  And waiting for the sun to rise wasn’t part of our plan!

Hubby’s birthday fell on Black Friday and I totally forgot to greet hubby at the stroke of midnight.  Hee hee hee!  It was already 12:45 when I accidentally glanced at my watch and remembered to greet him.  Ooops! ;)  We decided to leave at around 2am.  125 stores at the outlet mall and we went home with only 1 shopping bag, the contents of which were all gifts for loved ones! ;)

Through all this madness, Abby was such a good sport.  While her ates and kuyas were dozing off one by one in one store, and the two other kids her age (Milo and Ren) were already sound asleep in their strollers, Abby was wide awake.  I may have a future shopping companion in her!  Hahaha!  She didn’t sleep in her stroller until about 1:30.   This is your cue to say, “Bad Mommy!” :P

If there’s only one thing I wanted to buy on Black Friday, it was a camera.  And I had my eyes set on a Kodak EasyShare Z700 because it was only being sold at 149.99 at WalMart.  Hubby snuck out of the house at around 8am purposely to buy that camera and hopefully, a Panasonic videocam priced at 199.99 as well.  Late as it was (Wal-Mart opened at 6am!) hubby was able to snag a camera but not as lucky with the videocam!  I became the proud owner of a new camera…for more or less 36 hours.  Hmp!   We had to return it on Sunday because the image on the lcd is snowy.  Oh well!

In the evening, before hubby’s birthday dinner, we checked out Target.  And there, I was able to buy some clothes for Abby, a few DVDs, a pair of pants for me, and a table top electric grill, among other things.  :D  Puwede na rin!

The three of us celebrated hubby’s birthday at what has become our official birthday dinner venue, Tokyo Steakhouse.  This was the same restaurant where we celebrated my birthday last July.  We were seated at the very same table we used a little over 4 months ago, only this time, we were at the opposite end and we had the teppanyaki table all to ourselves. It was like having a private party for 3. :D

Unlike me, hubby had free cheesecake squares and ice cream complete with candle and a little birthday production number from the restaurant staff.  Hahaha!  You really have to let the restaurant know when you’re celebrating something.  We didn’t do that last time. :D  Hmp! I never liked to be the center of that kind of attention anyway.  (sour grapes!)

the birthday family

The customary family pic before (and after, too!) dinner. ;)

    edamame

A bowl of steaming “edamame”.  It’s a bowl of boiled soybeans, which has become Abby’s favorite Japanese appetizer.  We love it because it keeps Abby busy. ;)  She easily picked up how to eat it and that is to pop the seeds from the pod straight into the mouth. ;)

mommy and abby say      daddy and abby say

Our “say banana” pictures.  Hee hee!  If there’s one thing that Kris Aquino does that I’ve always kinda wanted to do well is to smile with the mouth open.  Hahaha! :D  We learned the “say banana” trick at The Picture Co. ;)

onions on fire!

Our very own teppanyaki chef doing the usual ‘onion volcano’ trick.

happy eaters

Notice the now almost empty bowl of edamame. :D  From the happy smiles, it’s obvious that we are such Japanese food junkies! ;)

funny face!

As usual, Abby had her own plate of tempura: 4 pcs. shrimp and 3 0r 4 pcs. veggies. :D  That’s her official Japanese resto meal. :D

happy birthday!

Three nice ladies (one standing behind hubby) sang birthday songs to hubby, one in Japanese and another one in English.

free treats!

Free birthday treats from the restaurant.  Yum!

And just in case you’re wondering, this is what I got hubby 2 weeks well ahead of his birthday…

Nintendo Wii

Not bad for a new toy, ei? :D

End of Party No. 3

Saturday, 24 November

We’ve long decided that Thanksgiving weekend was the perfect time to go to Sea World.  Abby was excited.  Her very first words when she opened here eyes on Saturday were, “Let’s go to Sea World!” Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate.  It was already raining from the moment we woke up and when we checked the weather report, it was to stay that way the rest of the weekend.  Grrr!  The temperature ranged from 39 degrees F to 41 degrees.  We had to shelve our plans.  I don’t think even the whales, dolphins and sealions will be at their peak performance level in this weather condition.  As consolation, we brought Abby to Chuck E. Cheese’s instead.

munchin' on pizza

Abby totally forgot about Sea World when we got to Chuck E. Cheese.  We had to force her to sit down and eat a slice of pizza after about 30 minutes of playing.

abby with her friend, chuck e.

Abby used to cling to hubby or me like crazy at the sight of mascots and clowns.  Now, that’s no longer the case.  If anything, she has become Chuck E’s stalker.  Hahaha!  Everytime Chuck E comes out to the play area, Abby wants to go to him and say hi and have their pic taken.  Hee hee!  How Abby has grown! :D

mad bikers

Watch out!  Mad bikers on the loose! :D

super maria?

This is how Abby would look like if she were Super Mario….Super Maria! :D

playing air hockey

Hubby and I both played a game or two each of air hockey with Abby.

oOo

After Abby had her dose of fun, we headed to San Marcos for MY dose of fun!  Mwa-ha-ha-ha! *evil laughter*  Our first stop was Tanger Outlet.  Abby and I each bought nice thick jackets.  And then at Aldo, hubby and I each bought a pair of shoes, casual black leathers for hubby and caramel-colored boots for me. ;) We only went through half of the Tanger outlets and then headed for the other huge outlet mall right next door, the Prime Outlets San Marcos. :D

abby wearing her new jacket

The one important article of clothing we forgot to bring last Saturday was a jacket for Abby…in our rush to get out of the house.  So that’s the first thing we bought.  It was unbelievably freezing that day!

At Prime Outlets, I was able to cross out names on my gift giving list one by one.  Hahaha!  And of course, more clothes for Abby.  That’s one thing I’m always guilty off…buying Abby new stuff.  It’s so fun dressing her up kasi!We saw less than half of  the stores at Prime Outlets.  At 8pm Abby was already complaining that she’s hungry, and that’s after eating 2 slices of pizza for merienda in the car at around 6pm.  Hubby was looking famished, too.  I don’t feel hungry at all when I’m shopping!  Nyahahaha!  Kaya sige, minabuti na naming umalis na para kumain.  Bitin!  But I’m smart enough to know I shouldn’t annoy the, er, source of shopping money. ;)

loots

These are our 2 days worth of loots.  Not included in the pic are the Sunday Wal-Mart loots. ;)  These are mostly gifts and Abby’s…except for the Aldo stuff. ;)

This is my favorite purchase though….

DB Doodle Lunch Bag

…a Dooney & Bourke Doodle Lunch Bag for Abby. ;)  It was on sale, ok?  It was just too cute to be passed up.  But Abby won’t be using it for school…heck, no!  She’ll use it everytime we go out.  :D  We’ll let her orange “Diego Rescue Pack” rest for a while. ;)

oOo

I only have a few people left on my list to worry about.  Mostly males…hubby included!  Hopefully, I’ll finish in 1 or 2 more shopping trips.  Hahaha!  And you know what, I learned the very Monday after Thanksgiving weekend that there’s such a thing as “Cyber Monday” where on-line shoppers are supposed to get great deals!  Muntik ko na rin patulan!  Hahaha!  The target market are office employees who are going back to work after the long weekend.  What good use of office time, ‘no?!

That’s it for my Thanksgiving Weekend.  It’s the start of a new week again.  I hope you had a fabulous weekend as did I and may you have a far more fabulous week ahead.  God bless, y’all! ;)
